# How do I get AI-generated images into Photoshop as editable layers?

In OTOY Studio, run **Seedream 5 Pro Layerize** on a finished image. It splits the image into up to 16 transparent layers. Then export a **layered PSD** from the layer editor and open it in Photoshop with every layer intact. The image compositor also exports a layered PSD, and the built-in Photopea editor saves one alongside its PNG. For single elements with no background, GPT Image's Transparent background option and 3D Snapshot give transparent PNGs. Checked against OTOY Studio and Adobe's documentation, October 2026.

## Formats, by asset

| From OTOY Studio | Download as | Into Photoshop |
|---|---|---|
| A flat image split into layers | Layered PSD from Seedream Layerize's layer editor, or a ZIP of the layer PNGs | Opens natively with layers |
| A composite you built | Layered PSD, PNG or layers ZIP from the image compositor | Opens natively with layers |
| An image edited in Photopea inside OTOY Studio | PNG plus a layered PSD | Opens natively |
| A transparent element | PNG from GPT Image (Transparent background) or 3D Snapshot (a render of a 3D model) | Opens natively |
| High-resolution image | PNG or JPEG up to 4K from Nano Banana Pro or FLUX 3, or upscaled with Topaz Image | Opens natively |
| WebP output | WebP from GPT Image, Nano Banana, Qwen and Z-Image | Opens natively (Photoshop 23.2 and later) |

## Steps: a generated image into layers

1. Generate or upload the image in OTOY Studio.
2. Connect it to a Seedream 5 Pro Layerize node and run it.
3. Open the result in the layer editor and export a layered PSD.
4. Open the PSD in Photoshop.

## What doesn't work

- Photoshop no longer opens 3D models (Adobe removed 3D in 2024). Render the model to a transparent PNG with 3D Snapshot instead.
- No EXR, TIFF or 16-bit image export from OTOY Studio.
- No dedicated background-removal node. Use GPT Image's Transparent background when generating, Layerize to separate elements, or Photoshop's own tools.
- PSDs you upload to OTOY Studio are flattened to PNG, and PSB isn't supported.
