# How do I use AI-generated video, 3D models and Gaussian splats in Blender?

Generate the asset in OTOY Studio, download it in a format Blender reads, and import it. **3D models** come as GLB, which Blender imports natively (File > Import > glTF 2.0). Some models also give FBX or OBJ. **Video** downloads as MP4, for the Video Sequencer or as a plane. **Images** download as PNG, for Images as Planes or textures. **Gaussian splats** download as PLY, but Blender can't render splats natively, so you need a free add-on such as KIRI Engine's 3DGS Render add-on. Everything below was checked against OTOY Studio and Blender's documentation in October 2026.

## Formats, by asset

| From OTOY Studio | Download as | Into Blender |
|---|---|---|
| 3D model (Meshy, Rodin, Hunyuan3D, Trellis, TripoSR, SAM 3D, Seed3D) | GLB from every model. Meshy also gives FBX, OBJ, USDZ, .blend and STL when returned. Rodin lets you pick GLB, OBJ, FBX or STL | File > Import > glTF 2.0 (native). FBX, OBJ and STL also import natively |
| Gaussian splat (Gaussian Splat, InstantSplat, Sharp, TripoSplat) | PLY, including an OctaneGS-optimised PLY | Third-party [KIRI Engine 3DGS Render add-on](https://github.com/Kiri-Innovation/3dgs-render-blender-addon) (free, GPL-2.0) |
| World Labs Marble world | SPZ splat and a collider GLB | Convert the SPZ to PLY in OTOY Studio's splat editor first, then use the add-on. The collider GLB imports natively |
| Mesh from photos (2D Gaussian Splat) | PLY, GLB or OBJ mesh, plus per-view depth maps | Native import. Depth maps can drive a Displace modifier |
| Video | MP4 (H.264) | Video Sequencer, or Images as Planes with a movie file |
| Image | PNG, JPEG or WebP. Transparent PNG from GPT Image's Transparent background or 3D Snapshot | Images as Planes (built in since Blender 4.2), or as a texture |
| Audio | MP3 (ElevenLabs) or WAV (Stable Audio) | Video Sequencer |

## Steps: an AI 3D model into a Blender scene

1. In OTOY Studio, generate the model with a text-to-3D or image-to-3D node (for example Meshy or Rodin).
2. Open the 3D preview and download GLB. For Meshy you can download every returned format as one ZIP.
3. In Blender, choose File > Import > glTF 2.0 (.glb/.gltf) and pick the file. Materials and textures come in with it.
4. To fill a scene quickly, keep generating variations in OTOY Studio and import each GLB.

## Steps: a Gaussian splat into Blender

1. In OTOY Studio, train a splat from 10 to 500 photos or a video with the Gaussian Splat node, or from one photo with Sharp or TripoSplat.
2. Download the PLY.
3. Install the KIRI Engine 3DGS Render add-on and import the PLY with it.

## What doesn't come across

- No camera data: camera moves in OTOY Studio are baked into the rendered video, with no FBX or Alembic camera to matchmove.
- No PBR passes: there's no albedo, normal or roughness output, and no depth node for ordinary images or video.
- No USD or Alembic export, except USDZ when Meshy returns it.
