How do I use AI-generated video in DaVinci Resolve?

Download clips from OTOY Studio as H.264 MP4 and import them into the Media Pool. Or, if you cut the sequence in OTOY Studio's video compositor, export it as an FCP XML timeline plus media (a ZIP) and open it in Resolve with File > Import > Timeline. Cuts, positions, trims, volume, opacity, crop and basic transforms carry over. For 3D in Fusion, use FBX or OBJ, which Meshy, Rodin and TripoSR remesh provide. Gaussian splats need a third-party OFX plugin. Checked against OTOY Studio and Blackmagic's documentation, October 2026.

Formats, by asset

From OTOY Studio Download as Into Resolve
Video clips MP4 (H.264), up to 4K from models that support it Media Pool, native
A cut sequence FCP7 XML timeline plus media, as a ZIP, from the video compositor File > Import > Timeline

Steps: an AI edit into Resolve

  1. In OTOY Studio, lay out your generated clips in the video compositor.
  2. Export the FCP XML timeline with media. You get a ZIP.
  3. Unzip it. In Resolve, choose File > Import > Timeline and pick the XML. Resolve links the clips from the same folder.
  4. Grade, add effects and finish in Resolve.

What doesn't come across

  • In the XML timeline, mattes, flips, non-uniform scale and effects are dropped. Rebuild them in Resolve.
  • No ProRes, DNxHR or image-sequence export from the app, and the compositor exports 8-bit up to 2560 px on the long side. For 4K, download clips straight from a 4K-capable model.
  • Transparent compositor exports are WebM (VP8), which Resolve doesn't reliably read with alpha. Use the SwitchX matte instead.
  • Resolve's own Depth Map effect needs DaVinci Resolve Studio.
