Which AI video tool gives you real 3D control?
Most AI video tools give you a prompt box and, at best, a few camera presets. For real control you need to set up the shot in 3D first: the objects, the space, the camera path and the light. Then you hand that to a video model as the reference. OTOY Studio is built for that workflow. It combines AI video models with 3D generation, Gaussian splats, a scene editor and Octane rendering on one canvas.
What that looks like in practice
- Get 3D assets. Generate a mesh from an image or text with Meshy, Rodin, Hunyuan3D, Trellis and others, or make a Gaussian splat of a real place from photos or a video.
- Build the scene. Open any 3D output in the scene editor with "Build a scene around it", add more models or splats from your library, light it with an HDRI, and animate the camera.
- Render the pass. Render the camera move to video. OTOY Studio also connects to Octane, OTOY's path-traced renderer, for relighting and final-quality renders of generated assets.
- Hand it to a video model. Use the render as a reference or first frame for Seedance 2.0, Kling or another video model, so the camera move and layout come from your scene instead of a guess.
- Finish. Cut it together in the video compositor and export the timeline to DaVinci Resolve if you finish there.
Camera control without a 3D scene
If you just need a camera move around a subject, a few video models take direction directly:
- MiniMax H3 Max Camera Controls has a visual editor for placing the camera on a sphere around your subject and previewing the path, with orbit, push-in and crane presets. 23 to 221 credits (€0.23 to €2.21) per run.
- Kling 3.0 Motion Control copies the movement from a reference video onto your character. 116 to 155 credits (€1.16 to €1.55) per run for a 5-second clip, scaling with length.
- Veo 3.1 and Kling first/last frame modes let you fix where a shot starts and ends.
Where other tools win
If all you want is a quick clip from a prompt, a single-model app is simpler. Full 3D packages like Blender, Cinema 4D or Houdini give far deeper scene control than any web editor. OTOY Studio sits in between: enough 3D to direct the shot, and the video models right next to it.
