OTOY Studio vs Autodesk Flow Studio (formerly Wonder Studio)

Autodesk Flow Studio, formerly Wonder Studio, turns live-action footage into editable CG. It replaces an actor with a CG character, captures their motion without markers, tracks the camera and builds a clean plate, then exports the scene to Maya, Blender, Unreal or USD. Since August 2026 it also has a node Canvas and a 3D Editor with models such as Veo, Kling, Seedance and World Labs Marble. OTOY Studio is a node canvas with 111 models, including Gaussian splat training and a wider set of image-to-3D models, but it does not do character replacement, mocap or camera export. Pick Flow Studio when the job starts from footage with a performer. Pick OTOY Studio when the job is generating shots, 3D assets or splats.

Where Flow Studio is better

  • Footage to CG. Character replacement with lighting matched to the plate, markerless mocap for several people, camera solve and clean plates. OTOY Studio does not do any of these.
  • Scene handoff. Exports carry animation and the camera into Maya, Blender, Unreal or USD. OTOY Studio has no camera or scene export. See AI video for VFX pipelines.
  • Rigged characters, including MetaHuman support and custom character uploads.
  • Price of entry if you are already on Autodesk's Media & Entertainment Collection.

Where OTOY Studio is better

  • Gaussian splats you can take elsewhere. Train a splat of a real location from photos or video and export it as PLY. See how to make a Gaussian splat.
  • More models per job. More video labs, and more image-to-3D models to compare on the same input. See image to 3D model.
  • Commercial use and no watermark on the free plan.

Using both

Generate a prop or character in OTOY Studio and export it as FBX from Meshy or Rodin. Flow Studio accepts custom characters as rigged FBX or .blend files, so rig it first. In the other direction, bring a Flow Studio clean plate or render into OTOY Studio to restyle it with a video-to-video model, upscale it with Topaz, or cut it in the video compositor.
