How to turn a photo into a 3D world or scene
How do I turn a single photo into an explorable 3D scene?
Use a world model or a single-photo splat model. World Labs Marble generates an explorable 3D world, delivered as a Gaussian splat, from an image or a video. Hunyuan World turns one image into a 3D world mesh. For a quick 3D version of a single photo, Sharp makes a splat in about two seconds for nearby viewpoints, and TripoSplat makes one with a generative model in a minute or two.
Models that do this
| Model | Maker | Pick it for | Takes | Credits per run |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marble World 1.1 | World Labs | Explorable world as a Gaussian splat | Prompt plus image or video | 116 to 147 (from €1.16) |
| Marble World 1.0 | World Labs | The earlier Marble release, Mini or Plus | Prompt plus image or video | 17 to 116 (from €0.17) |
| Hunyuan World | Tencent | A 3D world mesh from one image | Prompt plus image | 28 (from €0.28) |
| Sharp (1-Photo 3D) | OTOY | About two seconds, for nearby viewpoints | Prompt plus image | 2 (from €0.02) |
| TripoSplat (1-Photo 3D) | OTOY | Generative single-photo splat | Prompt plus image | 2 (from €0.02) |
The lowest-cost option here is Sharp (1-Photo 3D), from 2 credits (€0.02) per run. Credits are OTOY Studio's currency: 1 credit = €0.01. Prices are list prices before plan discounts (paid plans take 10% to 25% off every run). Every model is on every plan, including Free.
How to do it in OTOY Studio
- Upload a wide photo of the place. Wide shots with depth work better than close-ups.
- Add a Marble, Hunyuan World, Sharp or TripoSplat node and connect the photo.
- Run it and look around the result in the splat viewer.
- Edit the splat in the built-in editor, render a flythrough, or download it as a PLY.
Tips
- If you can capture the real place, a splat trained from 10 to 500 photos or a video is more accurate. See the Gaussian splat guide.
