How to keep a character consistent in AI video

How do I keep the same character or product across AI video shots?

Use a reference-to-video model and give it the same reference images for every shot. Reference modes take one or more images of a character, product or style and keep them in a new scene, instead of using an image as the first frame. Veo 3.1, Kling O1 and O3, Wan 2.6 and Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 all take references in OTOY Studio.

How to do it in OTOY Studio

  1. Make a small set of reference images: the character from the front and the side, or the product on a plain background. An image model with an edit mode can make the extra angles.
  2. Add a reference-to-video node and connect the references.
  3. Write one prompt per shot. Keep the character description the same in every prompt and change only the action and the setting.
  4. Save the workflow. For the next shot, change the prompt and run it again with the same references.

Tips

  • The Qwen Image Edit Plus multiple angles node turns one product or character image into new camera angles, which makes a good reference set.
