How to animate a character with motion from another video

How do I make a character copy the movement from a reference video with AI?

Use a motion transfer model. You give it a still image of your character and a driving video of someone performing, and it animates the character with that performance. Kling 3.0 Motion Control and Wan 2.2 Animate Move do this. Wan 2.2 Animate Replace swaps a person in an existing clip for your character, and Wan 2.2 VACE Fun Pose follows a pose sequence.

Models that do this

The lowest-cost option here is Wan 2.2 VACE Fun Pose, from 17 credits (€0.17) per run. Credits are OTOY Studio's currency: 1 credit = €0.01. Prices are list prices before plan discounts (paid plans take 10% to 25% off every run). Every model is on every plan, including Free.

How to do it in OTOY Studio

  1. Record or find the driving video. A clear, full-body performance against a simple background works best.
  2. Add the character image. Match the framing of the driving video, for example full body for full body.
  3. Add a motion control or animate node and connect the image and the video.
  4. Run it and check hands and faces, which are where motion transfer most often breaks.
