How do I use AI-generated 3D models, splats and video in Unity?

Download 3D models from OTOY Studio as GLB and install Unity's free glTFast package (com.unity.cloud.gltfast) to import them, or use FBX from Meshy, Rodin or TripoSR remesh, which Unity reads natively. Gaussian splats download as PLY and render with the free, open-source UnityGaussianSplatting project by Aras Pranckevičius (MIT), which also reads SPZ. Video works directly: Unity's Video Player plays H.264 MP4 and VP8 WebM, including the transparent WebM that OTOY Studio's video compositor exports. Checked against OTOY Studio and Unity's documentation, October 2026.

Formats, by asset

From OTOY Studio Download as Into Unity
3D model GLB from every model, FBX from Meshy, Rodin and TripoSR remesh GLB via the glTFast package (free, Apache 2.0). FBX and OBJ import natively
Gaussian splat PLY Third-party UnityGaussianSplatting (free, MIT; no longer actively developed)
World Labs Marble world SPZ splat and collider GLB UnityGaussianSplatting reads SPZ directly. Import the collider GLB with glTFast
Transparent video (UI, effects) WebM (VP8) from the video compositor Video Player, with alpha
Video MP4 (H.264) Video Player
Sprites and textures PNG, including transparent PNG from GPT Image's Transparent background or 3D Snapshot Native import
Voice and sound effects MP3 (ElevenLabs), WAV (Stable Audio) Native import

Steps: game props from prompts

  1. In OTOY Studio, generate the prop with a text-to-3D or image-to-3D node, such as Meshy or Rodin.
  2. Download FBX if the model offers it, or GLB.
  3. In Unity, drop the FBX into Assets, or install glTFast and drop in the GLB.

What to watch for

  • Generated meshes can be dense and aren't rigged unless the model says so. Plan for decimation or retopology for real-time use.
  • Splats are heavy on mobile. UnityGaussianSplatting targets D3D12, Metal and Vulkan.
